This Accelerated Hybrid Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course combines asynchronous online learning with weekly in-person practical sessions, providing a fast-paced, structured pathway to EMT certification in Massachusetts.
All didactic coursework—including lectures, reading assignments, quizzes, and exams—is completed online. Students attend one in-person class per week for 5 hours, focused exclusively on hands-on skills training, patient assessment, scenario-based simulations, and exam preparation. In-person sessions emphasize real-world application, clinical decision-making, and readiness for both the Massachusetts EMT psychomotor examination and the NREMT cognitive exam.
⚠️ Accelerated Course Pace & Time Commitment:
This is a rigorous, accelerated program. Students should expect a significant weekly time commitment and plan for approximately 10–15 hours per week of independent study outside of in-person class time. Staying current with online lectures, reading assignments, quizzes, and exam preparation is critical for success in this course.
The program includes a mandatory in-person orientation night one week prior to the start of class, as well as BLS HeartCode skills verification during the first in-person session. Students will participate in regular in-person EMS-style quizzes, pharmacology assessments, module exams, and a comprehensive final exam.
This course meets Massachusetts Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS) requirements and is ideal for motivated students seeking an efficient, instructor-supported EMT education experience.
